Project Logline:
Born to an American Military Family and an Iranian Merchant Family John Phillip Nybe explores his two countries
Synopsis:
This documentary starts off with Operation Ajax, The CIA coup that would knock the democratically elected PM of Iran out of power for trying to nationalize Iranian oil then goes on to explain my mother and father's marriage. They met at the Iran America Society. My mother's father was a Colonel in the American Army. Then we move to the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and the coming of the Iyatollah Khomeni. Then we cover how my family and I left Iran before the revolution and my grandfather's death from cancer due to exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Then we move life growing up in LA and working in the film industry, popular culture and 911. We explore a trip that I took in 2003 to Iran, the first time that I had been there since the 1970s. We come to the present where we explore the current tension between Iran and America. I have a rough film already finished, but must redo many parts due to current copy right enforcement. I put it up on youtube a while ago and it got over 10,000 hits within a year. However, I was forced to take it down after a stalker came after me. But I'm gonna give it another go. I want to polish this project and bring it up to date and fly back to Tehran to film it before the bombs go off.
